Hyers and Mebane have collaborated on photographic projects since 2006. Their projects include: Empire, Houses, Cars, Vegas, Downtowns, Brooklyn, Levittown, Zoos and Everywhere. Their book, EMPIRE, was published in concert with the Museum of Contemporary Photography in Chicago, and has been exhibited in the U.S. and Europe. In addition to their collaborative work, Martin works with his wife, Andrea Gentl as one half of the team Gentl & Hyers. William has a solo editorial practice working primarily on non-fiction stories, and teaches photography in Virginia
